Dieting Advice From The Sedona Method

Contrary to dieting advice, many of us feel the need to eat an extra pudding or snack after a meal, or to eat unhealthy food more often than we should, especially around Christmas time.

In this situation, very often in the New Year, many people consider dieting advice and decide to give up puddings or other unhealthy food. That commitment usually lasts a few days or weeks at best, and then we’re back eating puddings again, maybe even more than before.

Here’s an alternative approach to dieting advice: Instead of telling yourself that you’ll never do it again, make a pact with yourself that says you can have it if you want it, but you must release first.

You see, all habit patterns are locked in by patterns of feeling. Particular feelings pop up in our awareness, and we try to cover them over by taking a certain action, such as overeating. When you release, you let go of the underlying reason or motivation for that habit.

If you get the urge for some pie, for example, and you simply tell yourself that you can’t have it, you end up in a push-pull situation.

You feel deprived and can even start to obsess over that missed piece of pie. You hold the desire for pie in mind, building up inner pressure.

In the end you eat the piece of pie anyway, or a couple of days later you give in and end up eating two pieces of pie instead of the original one. Traditionally dieting advice does little to counteract this tendency, which is why diets rarely work.

The Sedona Method’s dieting advice, however, makes things much easier. It states that you should first release whatever feeling is giving you the craving for the piece of pie. Then if you still want it, you can have it.

This creates the space to get into releasing around the habit, and you’ll soon notice the habit drop away.

The process of releasing involves first welcoming and accepting the feeling you’re experiencing right now. Next, welcome wanting to change that feeling. Then, welcome the feeling that it’s part of you and who you are. Finally open up inside and let it to. You may have to do this a few times to get the feeling to shift.

Not only does this Sedona Method dieting advice make it easier to physically lose the weight, but it eliminates the negative feelings and cravings that usually come up when following most other dieting advice.

Sedona Method teacher, Hale Dwoskin, knows an actress who was trying to lose weight so that she could get the roles she wanted.

When they first met, she’d been attempting to lose twenty pounds for over twenty years, but was never able to get down to the size she wanted.

She tried all the dieting advice she could find. She exercised every moment she could. In fact, she ran such a lot that she damaged her knees and wasn’t able to run anymore meaning that she had to find an alternative aerobic exercise.

Eventually she tried attending a Sedona Method live seminar. Her instructor suggested she did what I described above, allow herself to eat whatever she wanted providing she released first. This was what led to her breakthrough.

Around two days afterwards, she went to a restaurant and ordered the first hot fudge sundae she’d had for years. Not only did it taste great, but she could do it guilt-free, because she was eating whatever she wanted, but only after releasing.

When she released the feelings that made her want to eat, she ate far less with no effort. In fact, she lost five pounds in just five days. After about six months, she’d lost the twenty pounds she wanted.
That was many years ago now, but she’s still maintaining her ideal weight.

If she can do it, not to mention the thousands of other people who’ve used dieting advice from the Sedona Method effectively, then you can too.

Instead of attempting to change your habit, sign a mental contract with yourself stating that the next time you want to reach for a pudding or unhealthy snack, you can, but only if you still want to after you release.

Following this simple dieting advice, the habit of overeating will easily fall away. This may happen gradually, or it could happen right away.

Thousands of people have already lost weight this way. Experiment with it by yourself and you’ll soon find that it’s the best dieting advice you ever received.
