Who Is Hale Dwoskin?

Hale Dwoskin is the CEO and the Director of Training at Sedona Training Associates which is based in Sedona, Arizona.

 

Hale Dwoskin is a co-founder of the firm which started in 1996 which teaches courses based on the emotional releasing techniques created by Lester Levenson, Hale’s mentor.

 

Hale Dwoskin gets hired to speak all over the world and he’s a featured faculty member at Esalen and the Omega Institute.

The film serves as a great introduction to the Release Technique. My only criticism would be that it’s a little short on the practical side and could be improved with an exercise or two included.

Lester Levenson And The Origins Of The Sedona Method

Sedona Method creator, Lester Levenson was sent home from hospital to die in his New York home in 1952.

 

Lester Levenson had been told that he had only months to live following a heart attack which was not his first.

 

Lester Levenson was told that he shouldn’t even walk unless it was absolutely necessary and that he should get slip on shoes because tying shoelaces could kill him. He felt angry, hurt and fearful while he got his affairs in order.

 

He went three days feeling powerless and sorry for himself before deciding to commit a hopefully painless suicide by overdosing on his prescription medication.

This feeling that he had the power to end his life on his own terms inspired Lester Levenson to get back a feeling of power over his life.

Over the next three months he immersed himself in searching out the answers to life. This is what lead the creation of the Sedona Method.



During the initial four weeks Lester Levenson went over everything he already knew and searched through various books.

After realising that the answers weren’t there he turned inward. That’s when he was able to make some amazing breakthroughs which resulted in the Sedona Method.  

Lester Levenson found that he was looking for happiness. Indeed everything he’d ever done was inspired by the desire to be happy.

The seeds of the Sedona Method were planted when he considered a past relationship with a woman he’d loved. She’d left him for another man and Lester Levenson could still feel the pain of the rejection.

This was the point at which he realised that love was the key to happiness. It dawned on him that he was unhappy when he wanted to be loved by someone and happy when he felt loving towards someone.

This realisation was to give birth to the Sedona Method. Lester Levenson soon understood that all his illnesses, including his heart attacks were caused by his desire to control. Wanting to change the past was making him ill.

As he went over the relationship with the woman who had left him, he remembered that ulcers appeared in his stomach the very day she went.

He later got rid of his ulcers using Sedona Method. Lester Levenson came to the realisation that he’d been fighting with her decision for over twenty years, wishing it hadn’t happened.

He focussed on feeling only love for all his past experiences and found that that completely released their emotional charge from his mind.

Lester Levenson continued with his inner work and worked on fine tuning the Sedona Method. He asked himself what his mind was and realised that his mind and the outer world were the same thing.

His mind was what made his life what it was. Before the Sedona Method, Lester Levenson would hold his head in his hands for hours, trying to stop his thoughts because there was so much negativity there. He later perfected the Sedona Method for removing negativity.

Soon, Lester Levenson was using the Sedona Method to release all his negativity, eventually arriving at his deepest fear - the fear of death.

He had learned that all thoughts were based on feeling and he knew that this fear of dying was just the same as all the others, only a feeling. So, he used the Sedona Method to release it.

Lester Levenson went on releasing all the negativity from his mind and felt joy beyond description.

But he didn’t stop there, he kept going, realising that this joy had no end or limit if he continued to use the Sedona Method.

He asked himself what lay beyond the joy and used the Sedona Method to release his resistance to experiencing it.

When he finished he entered a state of total imperturbability that he called hootlessness which lasted until his death at the age of 84.

Lester Levenson had taken himself from a dying man to a fully realised master within three months.

 In fact, he said that his awakening really only happened during the final month following his creation of the Sedona Method because he didn’t know what he was doing prior to that.

During that time his body completely healed and six months later he’d become a millionaire thanks to using the Sedona Method, without investing his own money.

Lester Levenson committed the rest of his life to helping others in their desire for freedom.

I always enjoy watching Hale Dwoskin. He’s got great enthusiasm and is always entertaining. Most importantly of course, the Sedona Method info is great.

I like Hale’s point about escaping our emotions and how there are industries based around helping us to do that such as the entertainment industry.



Hale talks about how the Sedona Method can be used in any situation which is one of the best things about it.

Overall I think this is a good, if brief, introduction to the Sedona Method.

It Really Is Time To Get Going Now

It seems like ages since my last blog post. In that time I’ve had various issues come up which I’ve used as excuses to not keep up the regular blogging.

These include a problem with my computer which caused it to keep freezing and restarting soon after turning it on which took ages to get fixed. Eventually I managed to do it by replacing the motherboard. It seems fine now.

I’ve also had problem with my eyes and have had to make numerous trips to the option’s to get them checked out and start a trial of new contact lenses. It was just a reaction I was having to the old type and it looks like it’s going to be fine after I’ve left them out for a week and start on a new type.

Finally it seems that things have settled down and I’m determined to make blog posts and release every day so that I can make money and build my team. (Hello to everyone who’s joined already, if you haven’t what are you waiting for? Go to Sedona-Method.co.uk and sign up now.

To help me I’m using Simpleology which you can sign up with for free here. It’s a great method of planning, both short and long term, and really helps you to stay focussed on what you need to do.

I’ve decided I need to focus on getting everything I want done every work day even if it’s not perfect. How could it be at this stage anyway? I know I’ll improve as I go along.

 Also I need to put what the Empower Network training materials say to do into action exactly instead of over complicating things. The system is all there laid out for you and there’s really no need to do that.

Cameron Diaz Claims Colin Firth Seduced Her

Cameron Diaz has said that she fell for Colin Firth during the filming of their new movie, Gambit.

 

Cameron Diaz, 40 told The Telegraph’s Mandrake that she fell under the charms of the definitive Mr Darcy on the set.

Cameron Diaz said: “He seduced me straight away. I was like, 'What is going on here? Why am I falling in love with Colin Firth?’”

 Colin Firth, on the other hand, didn’t think that Cameron Diaz saw him at his best, saying: “My legs are on show in the film a lot. Men’s legs are not, sadly, very attractive.”

Firth’s legs didn’t put Cameron Diaz off, though. “It’s the British sense of humour” she said “it is unique”.

Wednesday was a big night for Cameron Diaz as she attended the premiere of Gambit in London. Even after the premiere and afterparty, she still wasn't ready to head back to her hotel, though. She went to another party before calling it a night at 2am, looking somewhat bleary-eyed.

It looked like Cameron Diaz may have had a touch of jet lag, looking sleepy as she was helped out of Bodo's Schloss, the newly-opened Kensington club, the location of Elizabeth Saltzman's Gambit launch party.

Cameron Diaz also looked like she wasn’t keen on the cold weather, dressed as she was in a big black coat by Emilia Wickstead over the top of her dress and jacket whilst walking to her waiting car outside the club.

 Earlier in the evening she was posing on the red carpet at the movie premiere, also attended by co-stars Colin Firth and Alan Rickman.

It was rumoured in January that Cameron Diaz had had breast enlargement surgery to go up a cup size and she was looking bustier than usual in her Stella McCartney dress.



 After the premiere, Cameron Diaz went to London's Corinthia Hotel, which is where this year's X Factor hopefuls are staying, to attend the official Gambit premiere afterparty.

The hotel had created a special Gambit cocktail for the event which was made from eucalyptus-infused gin blended with orange and wormwood bitters and acacia honey.

At the subsequent Bodos Schloss party, Cameron Diaz was joined by numerous celebrities including Geri Halliwell and Elle Macpherson.

 The film is a remake of the 1966 movie, Gambit which starred Sir Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine. This version was written by the Coen brothers and directed by Michael Hoffman.


Colin Firth stars as Harry Deane, a British art curator who cons his boss Lord Shabandar, played by Alan Rickman, into purchasing a fake Monet painting as a way of taking revenge for years of abuse.

Cameron Diaz plays PJ Puznowski, eccentric Texas rodeo queen whom he enlists to help.  

Gambit starring Cameron Diaz and Colin Firth is due for release in the UK on 21st November.

US Elections 2012

Barack Obama secured a second term in the US Elections 2012, defeating Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

The first black president of the United States, Barack Obama, surpassed the 270 votes required in the electoral college to win the US Elections 2012.

Obama spoke in front of his supporters in Chicago after his US Elections 2012 re-election in which he said that he would discuss with Mitt Romney "where we can work together to move this country forward".

He was able to win the US Elections 2012 despite widespread disappointment over US economic performance for the duration of his first term, something which Mitt Romney campaigned hard on.

The Democratic party was also able to keep their majority in the Senate which they've had since 2007. The Republicans, meanwhile, maintained control of the House of Representatives.

Many political analysts think this will mean more gridlock, something that dogged Obama's first term, thanks to the House and the president disagreeing on a lot of legislation.

 In his US Elections 2012 victory speech, Obama challenged the Republicans to work with him for an improved America.

 

Florida's 29 electoral votes still haven't been decided, but Barack Obama now has 303 electoral votes compared to Mitt Romney's 206 and so has enough to win the US Elections 2012.

The US Elections 2012 is determined by the number of electoral votes won, 270 being the number needed to win. Those votes are given in approximate proportion to population.

Symbolically and politically, however, the precise number of votes received by each candidate is thought to be important and that race is still very tight.

Obama's speech included congratulations for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, the Republican vice-presidential candidate, for their hard-fought campaign.

Obama said: "We have picked ourselves up, we have fought our way back and we know in our hearts that for the United States of America the best is yet to come."

He also said that he would go back to the White House "more determined, and more inspired than ever about the work there is to do, and the future that lies ahead".

Obama pledged to work with Republican leaders in Congress to bring down the government budget deficit, overhaul the tax code and improve the rules on immigration.

He said: "We are an American family and we rise and fall together as one nation."

Mitt Romney gave his US Elections 2012 post-election speech in Boston which was the base of his campaign.

He congratulated Barack Obama saying that both he and Paul Ryan had "left everything on the field" and put all the had into their campaign.

Talking about the economy, Mitt Romney said this wasn’t the time for "partisan bickering and political posturing", and Republicans and Democrats need to "put people before politics".

Mitt Romney said: "I so wish that I had been able to fulfill your hopes to lead the country in a different direction but the nation chose another leader and so I join with you to earnestly pray for [Barack Obama] and for this great nation."

Obama was able to win the US Elections 2012 by retaining solid Democratic states and securing several important swing states including Colorado, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota, Virginia and Wisconsin.

His narrow win in Ohio, traditionally one of the closest swing states, secured the US Elections 2012 victory.

The Start Of My Releasing Journey

My name is Joe Beaven. I’ve known about releasing for a few years now and used it effectively for short periods of time. I’ve never managed to integrate it fully into my life though, which is what I need to do if I’m really going to be successful with it.

 

Releasing (also known as The Sedona Method and The Release Technique) is a method of letting go of the thoughts, emotions and beliefs that cause you pain and block you from achieving what you want in life.

 

A couple of months ago I joined Empower Network which is a blogging system designed to get you great rankings in the search engines.

When you become a member there are Internet marketing courses you can purchase to get even more people to view the blog and you can sell the system and courses to others and get a 100% commission.

After dabbling with Empower Network for a few weeks and not really getting anywhere, I realised that if I could combine releasing with Empower Network, I could get some incredible results.

I could blog about releasing which would help me to keep up with practicing and make money through the Empower Network at the same time.

You see I’ve also been trying to make money online for many years with varying results. Yes, I’ve made £1000s over the years, but I’ve also had many failures and never made the kind of money I wanted.

Now, all that is changing, thanks to my releasing the mental blocks that I have to being wealthy and successful and the massive potential of the Empower Network.

There are some seriously successful bloggers in the Empower Network making £1000s per month and they’re just regular people working from home like you and me, so I know with releasing I can be there with them soon.

I’m planning to use this blog to record my progress with releasing and help others with their releasing. I’m also hoping to get some other people who are very successful with releasing involved through guest posts, reprinting articles and interviews. I should be adding audio and video in the future.

Skyfall – Daniel Craig Is Back As James Bond

The first official clip of the theme to the new James Bond film, Skyfall was been made available. The song is performed by Adele and is proving extremely popular.

Despite being released late last week, Skyfall still managed to reach the number four spot on the British singles chart on Sunday.

Yet, according to the James Bond official website, Adele wasn’t sure whether she wanted to be the one to sing the Skyfall theme at first.

She said: "There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song.

But I fell in love with the script. ... It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I've never done which made it exciting."

Adele wrote the song, Skyfall, with Paul Hepworth who also co-wrote her hit Rolling in the Deep. The track was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London.

Adele made the Skyfall theme available on her official website on Friday, the same day as the fiftieth anniversary of the release of the first James Bond film, Dr. No.

Skyfall will be the 23rd movie in Eon Productions’ James Bond series, produced for MGM, Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Daniel Craig will star as James Bond for the third time with the villain, Raoul Silva, played by Javier Bardem.

Sam Mendes is the director of Skyfall and it was written by Neal Purvis, John Logan and Robert Wade.

Mendes, who also directed American Beauty and Road To Perdition, was asked to direct Skyfall soon after Quantum of Solace came out in 2008.

Unfortunately, production had to be put on hold when MGM ran into financial difficulties, not starting up again until December, 2010.

 Mendes was still attached to Skyfall as a "consultant" throughout that time, although Peter Morgan who was the original screenwriter abandoned the project.

 When production started up again, Purvis, Logan and Wade finished off the script which still contained many of Morgan’s ideas.

Filming started in November, 2011. It mostly took place in the UK, China and Turkey.



Skyfall begins with James Bond on a mission in Istanbul which ends disastrously.

Bond is missing and presumed dead and every active undercover MI6 agent’s identity have been published online.

The result is that M's ability to run the Secret Service comes into question and a government review begins.

When MI6 is targeted in an attack and James Bond suddenly reappears, M decided that she has the pretext required for searching for Raoul Silva, the movie’s villain who claims to have a personal connection to both of them.

As Bond trails Silva from London to the South China Sea, his loyalty to M is challenged by secrets he discovers about her past.

Skyfall will premiere on 23rd October, 2012, and will be released nationwide in the UK on 26th October, 2012. It will mark the first time that a James Bond film has been available to view in IMAX cinemas.

Liam Neeson Is Back In Taken 2

Liam Neeson is back in Taken sequel, Taken 2

Is it just more of the same from Liam Neeson in Taken 2 ?

These days it seems that whatever situation Liam Neeson, or rather the character he’s playing, gets himself into, you can be pretty sure that he’s going to find a way out of it.

Not only that, but he's going to save his family and friends as well. And somehow he manages to make you feel safe too.

Taken 2 is more of the same in this regard. Taken came out in 2008 and was a surprise hit, hence this sequel.  

Taken 2 opens by showing funerals for the numerous victims of Liam Neeson’s character in the first film.

At first you think, what are the chances of all that happening again? But then you get a sense of safe familiarity when everything kicks off.

Indeed the plot of Taken 2 is little different from the original. It’s pretty much the same movie, but with a change of location and an alternative person being “taken”.

Taken 2 sees Neeson's Bryan Mills character, the obsessive-compulsive ex-CIA operative in Istanbul, where he’s the one being kidnapped along with his ex-wife Lenore, played by Famke Janssen.

Whilst in the first movie it was Mills' daughter Kim, played by Maggie Grace who was kidnapped to be used in a prostitution ring, in Taken 2 the bad guys are looking for revenge.

The Albanian human traffickers who grabbed Kim in the first Taken want payback for Mills’ mass-slaughter of their family members.

 The extended family is lead is its patriarch who is portrayed by the Croatian actor, Rade Šerbedžija who displays a casual blood-lust.

The first time we see him, he looks like a sleepy old granddad, reclining in his seat at a wrecked apartment building waiting for a call to say the former married couple have been abducted.

You almost feel sympathy for him as he struggle to come to grips with the realization that he’ll never be able to see his son again.

He has a number of seemingly inept family members working for him. Indeed Mills has no problem tracking them down thanks to their barking dog.



The film’s script contains plenty of slightly-illogical, but still tense touches to compensate for the more ridiculous elements.

These include a hooded Mills being driven to the secret base of his kidnappers counting to himself to keep track of the time taken, speed and direction of their journey, getting more clues from sounds coming from outside.

Another example is the ease with which his daughter is able to acquire a selection of hand grenades at short notice.

The father-daughter relationship portrayed by Neeson and Grace can get pretty funny before the action kicks off as he gets overprotective when she starts seeing a new boyfriend.

 Mind you, it’s understandable after what happened in the first film. Famke Janssen’s part in Taken 2 unfortunately mostly involves lying unconscious, or slowly waking up.

A subplot in which Kim tries to get her parents back together fades away and comes to nothing.

Taken 2 is all about Liam Neeson and his transformation into a somewhat aged action star anyway. He certainly doesn’t waste any time, just doing what needs to be done in a movie lasting only ninety minutes. You know what you’re getting with Liam Neeson these days.

Taken 2 is out now. Another film which looks promising which is still a few months away is RoboCop.

Runaway Teacher Jeremy Forrest Says He’s "Looking Forward" To Talking About His Relationship With Megan Stammers

Jeremy Forrest, the teacher who ran away to France with teenage pupil, Megan Stammers was taken to a court in France by armed police on Tuesday before agreeing to extradition back to the UK.

Jeremy Forrest (30) told the court, via his lawyer, that the “full story” of his relationship with fifteen-year-old Megan Stammers is yet to been told.

The teacher revealed an unshaven face and greasy hair as the coat enveloping his head was removed prior to the hearing.

He signed the extradition papers dressed in a checked shirt and dark trousers before being remanded in custody by a panel of three judges.

 After he ran away with Megan Stammers to France on 20th September, the married maths teacher will be defending himself on a charge of child abduction when he returns.

The hearing which lasted only fifteen minutes took place at Bordeaux’s appeal court.

The translator for Jeremy Forrest whispered the English version of the judge’s inquiries to him whilst reporters took notes from the seats of the stone-walled, oak-panelled courtroom.

Judge Eric Grafmuller asked the teacher to give his name to which he quietly replied: “Jeremy Forrest”. He then nodded to verify his birth date and nationality.

After the hearing, the British lawyer for Jeremy Forrest, Phil Smith, commented: “Now he has agreed to be extradited to the UK, we look forward to the full story emerging.

He is very appreciative of the support of his family.”

Smith then stated that Jeremy Forrest felt “concerned about the impact of this on all those concerned” as well as being concerned for “all those impacted” by what had going on.

The French lawyer for Jeremy Forrest, Daniel Lalanne quoted the teacher as saying: “I still love her”.

Lalanne said that Jeremy Forrest hadn’t subjected Megan Stammers “to violence or manipulation” and that he “only wants to be reunited with Megan”.

 Jeremy Forrest had his head re-covered by the coat whilst police accompanied him back from the courtroom to the French jail where he’s been remanded.

 If he’s convicted under UK law, he could face up to 5 years in prison, as well as a £60,000 fine.

Jeremy Forrest was taken into custody last Friday in Bordeaux, a city in South-West France after a police hunt for the couple who’d been staying in a cheap hotel.

Witnesses reported that Jeremy Forrest and Megan Stammers were acting like Bonnie and Clyde, the fugitive American gangsters, whilst endeavouring to avoid police on their visits to expat bars.

The two were also spotted posing for photographs in Bordeaux city centre, a place that Jeremy Forrest had visited earlier in 2009 and performed as a busker.

Megan Stammers is at a secret location following her return to the UK on Saturday.

She is back with her mother, Danielle Wilson and stepfather, Martin Stammers.

 Jeremy Forrest taught at Bishop Bell Church of England School in Eastbourne which is where Megan studied.

Julian Assange Could Be Extradited Under Treaty With Ecuador

Ecuadorian authorities have stated that the UK has the ability to grant safe passage to Julian Assange (41), the founder of WikiLeaks, in accordance with an extradition treaty signed between the two nations in the 1800s.

In an interview about Julian Assange with South American broadcaster, Telesur, the Ecuadorian foreign minister said that the treaty, which was signed on 20th September, 1840, allows Ecuador to "demonstrate to the United Kingdom that it can deliver safe passage."

 Patino added that the treaty "foresees that no one shall be extradited if the offense in question is not political in nature".

Patino stated that he’d brought the issue up with William Hague, the British Foreign Secretary, at a meeting on Thursday at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Ecuadorian minister said that that William Hague "recognized the validity of this accord, even if his interpretation differs from ours".

After the meeting, both sides commented that they were yet to reach a resolution regarding Julian Assange, who has been staying at the Ecuadoran embassy in London since June so as to not be extradited to Sweden and questioned with regards to a case of sexual assault.

Later, he was awarded diplomatic asylum by Quito. The Australian political activist has said that the case against him is politically motivated and that the USA are behind it.

 Julian Assange thinks that if he’s extradited to Sweden, he’ll soon be sent to the US to face prosecution.

The United States authorities were enraged by Julian Assange’s release of thousands of US war reports from the frontline of Iraq and Afghanistan along with a plethora of confidential diplomatic cables on his WikiLeaks website.

Below is an interview with Julian Assange by Uruguayan journalist, Jorge Gestoso, which was conducted inside the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. It was originally shown on GamaTV on 30th August 30, 2012.

 

In other news it’s been reported that Benedict Cumberbatch could be set to play Julian Assange in a future biopic about his life in a project set up by DreamWorks.

The rumour was started by Mike Fleming from Deadline.com, although he did state that the studio refused to confirm Cumberbatch's possible involvement.

 The refusal may be related to "Bourne Legacy" star, Jeremy Renner’s reported involvement in the Julian Assange movie over the summer.

 In an interview with Vulture, Renner said: "You're assuming that all that happens!" with regards to the WikiLeaks film, which is slated to be directed by Bill Condon.

He added: "It's a long road to happen with that, and the content is interesting, but other than that, I couldn't tell you the reality of it."

The role would be another boost for the career of Benedict Cumberbatch. The actor has already starred in the 2011 hits "War Horse" and "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" and has been confirmed to play the villain in the next Star Trek movie.

Cumberbatch is also the voice of both Smaug and the Necromancer in the upcoming "Hobbit" trilogy, directed by Peter Jackson.

On top of that he’s set to co-star with Brad Pitt in Steve McQueen's "Twelve Years A Slave" and to appear alongside Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts in "August: Osage County". Find out more about the extradition case here: Julian Assange

Anne Hathaway Marries Adam Shulman

Over the weekend Anne Hathaway married Adam Shulman. The couple had been engaged for a year.

Anne Hathaway was looking very happy when she was seen for the first time since the wedding yesterday.

The star of The Dark Knight Rises who is 29 years old was spotted entering a car in Big Sur in California which is where it’s thought that her wedding happened.  

Anne Hathaway seemed very happy and was joking with photographers as they asked her about what happened on her big day.

In a coy manner, she said: “On what?, I don't know what you are talking about”.  

Anne Hathaway was partially covering her face with an enormous hat over a headscarf with large sunglasses, so she clearly wasn’t all that keen for attention.

She also wore a yellow sundress along with a support bandage around her wrist following an injury she suffered earlier this year in June.  

Anne Hathaway married Adam Shulman following a year-long engagement at the weekend in what is a picturesque part of California.

For her marriage, Anne Hathaway hired Natalie Portman’s wedding planner to make sure everything was just right.



Anne Hathaway married in a vintage-inspired, Valentino-designed dress. Valentino Garavani announced he would be making it soon before the wedding. Adam Shulman wore a tuxedo.

She also wore white shoes and an elaborate veil.

People.com reported that the wedding was attended by a hundred guests.

 The rehearsal dinner went ahead last Friday at the Ventana Inn and Spa. Afterwards, Anne Hathaway walked up the aisle on a private estate.

A minibus picked up the guests from the Ventana Inn and Spa luxury hotel and took them to the service.

Nature was the theme of the wedding which included many branches, both at the wedding itself and the reception.

Before the marriage it was rumoured that the ceremony would be a traditional Jewish wedding just as Natalie Portman’s had been when she married Benjamin Millipied, also at Big Sur.

 Big Sur runs alongside the Pacific Coast Highway and is best known for its association with the Beat poets.

It has a small population and is located at the point at which the Santa Lucia Mountains rise out of the Pacific Ocean. Originally Anne Hathaway said that the marriage wouldn’t happen until 2013 due to work commitments.

In an interview with Hello magazine, she stated: “We're getting married, probably sometime next year-ish.

Not this year, it’s too big with two films coming out. I haven't started planning yet.

I was filming Les Mis when we decided to do it, and there was no way I could think about anything wedding-related with my head in the space it was in then. I've been so busy since then, I've not even decided what sort of ceremony I want.”

Why Is It Dark At Night?

Why is it dark at night? Olbers' paradox, which is named after German astronomer Heinrich Wilhelm Olbers is also known as the "dark night sky paradox".

The paradox says that a static, infinitely old universe containing an infinite number of stars dispersed across an infinitely large space should be light as opposed to dark. So why is it dark at night?

You can demonstrate this be splitting the universe into a series of concentric spheres, which could be one light year thick, for example.

So, a certain quantity of stars would be in the sphere 1,000,000,000 to 1,000,000,001 light years away. If the stars in the universe are distributed evenly, then one would expect four times the stars in a second sphere that is between 2,000,000,000 and 2,000,000,001 light years away.

Because the second sphere is double the distance away though, each star that’s a part of it would seem four times dimmer on average than the first sphere.

Therefore the amount of light received from the second sphere should be equal to the amount of light received from the first sphere.

Each sphere of a given thickness, therefore, should generate the same quantity of light, from our point of view, however far away it may be. the light from each sphere should be added to the total amount.

If the universe is infinite, then there should be infinite spheres, and therefore, bright sky at night.

 It would be possible for dark clouds to obstruct the light, but if that happened, then the clouds would warm up, eventually becoming as hot as stars, which would cause them to shine just as brightly.

Why Is It Dark At Night?

The astronomer, Johannes Kepler said that this suggested a finite observable universe, or if not, then a finite quantity of stars.

In general relativity theory, it’s still allowed for the paradox to exist in a finite universe. Although the sky wouldn’t show infinite brightness, each point of light visible in the sky would still have the properties of a star’s surface. 


So, why is it dark at night? To explain Olbers' paradox, you need to account for the low brightness of the night sky compared to the circle of the Sun.

The universe has a finite age and stars have only been around for some part of that time. This means that the Earth can’t receive any starlight from past a particular distance which corresponds with the length of time that the oldest stars have existed.

The Big Bang theory introduced a fresh paradox by saying that the night sky had been considerably brighter long ago.

According to the theory it was at it’s height at the culmination of the recombination era. This is when it became transparent for the first time.

Every point in the nearby sky at that time would have been brighter than the circle of our Sun. This was down to very high temperatures that existed in the universe at that time.

Most light rays in the universe are relics of the Big Bang, rather than coming from stars. The Big Bang paradox can be explained by the expansion of space which is also part of the Big Bang theory.

This causes the amount of energy in the light coming to us to reduce because of redshift. Because of the cosmic expansion there are extreme amounts of radiation left over from the Big Bang which have been reduced in wavelength 1,100 times to microwave wavelengths.

This is known as the cosmic microwave background radiation. This can explain the relatively low levels of light observable in most of the night, despite the Big Bang being such a bright event.

Redshift also has an effect on the light coming from stars and quasars that are a great distance away, although to a lesser extent. So that's the answer to the question, why is it dark at night?

Labour Conference: Balls Says Stamp Duty Should Be Cut

In a move that risks a confrontation with trade union leaders, Ed Balls has begun to talk tough with regards to pay and public spending at the 2012 Labour conference.

In a speech on the second day of the Labour conference in Manchester, Balls said that another 100,000 affordable houses should be built to kick-start the economy.

His speech as in danger of being overshadowed due to conflict with a number of unions who plan to vote against freezes in public sector pay.

One union leader remarked that Mr Balls "would give an aspirin a headache", whilst another added that proposing a pay freeze would result in a loss for Labour at the next election.

Ed Balls said that the plan to build you homes would be funded by selling the the 4G mobile phone spectrum, estimated to be worth four billion pounds.

Balls said: "Let's commit that money from the 4G sale and build over the next two years: 100,000 new homes - affordable homes to rent and to buy - creating hundreds of thousands of jobs and getting the construction industry moving again.

Add to that a stamp duty holiday for first-time buyers, and we can deliver real help for people aspiring to get on the property ladder. A clear and costed plan to kick-start the economy and get people back to work."

Commenting on the economy, Ed Balls said: "Hard times will last longer than all of us hoped. And we cannot promise to put everything right straight away.

Of course we'll make different choices - we'll do things in a fairer and more balanced way and put jobs and growth first.

But, however difficult this may be, when we don’t know what we will inherit, we cannot make any commitments now that the next Labour government will be able to reverse particular tax rises or spending cuts.

Because, unlike Nick Clegg, we will not make promises we cannot keep. And because we all know there can be no post-election spending spree, in our first year in government we will hold a zero-based spending review that will look at every pound spent by government."

Many union leaders are expected to mount a ferocious counter-attack. Paul Kenny, the head of GMB said: "He would give an aspirin a headache, wouldn't he?"

Kenny has threatened to read out his dossier of what he calls "Balls Ups", or mistakes he claims were made by Balls when in government, at a Labour conference fringe meeting.

Unite’s general secretary, Len McCluskey said that Labour was set to lose the next election if it was unable to relate to workers.

He also said that public sector pay freezes were beginning to make an impact with people working for private companies.

There is also pressure on Ed Balls make Labour’s tax policy clear at the Labour conference following Ed Miliband’s statement that he would restore the 50p income tax rate for the very high paid in a television interview.

Ed Milliband said:"If I was in government tomorrow one change I would make in relation to the better off - first change in a Labour budget - we wouldn't be cutting the top rate of income tax from 50 to 45p. If there was an election tomorrow, that is what we would do."

At the Labour conference, friends of Ed Balls' said that the Labour party's position is unchanged in a statement to Sky News.

One of them said: "Lots of people seem to have misinterpreted what Ed Miliband said. We would not cut the 50p rate if there was an election tomorrow.

Megan Stammers Back With Family As Teacher Is Held

Megan Stammers, the missing fifteen year-old has been found and her teacher has been taken into custody in France. The teen’s family said they felt joyful over her being found safely.

Jeremy Forrest (30), who was the maths teacher of Megan Stammers has been arrested as a suspect of child abduction in the French city of Bordeaux following his disappearance, along with the 15-year-old, a week ago. ITN News said that on Tuesday Jeremy Forrest was set to appear in a court in France.

According to chief inspector Jason Tingley of Sussex Police, the couple were seen in Bordeaux on Thursday by someone who remembered seeing Forrest on TV.

This came as the third possible sighting of the two in Bordeaux. They were finally confronted by police soon after 12PM yesterday.

 Martin Stammers, stepfather of Megan Stammers said to journalists at a press conference: "We just can't wait to be reunited with her. Our family are overjoyed at the outcome. As you can imagine it's been an absolute emotional roller-coaster."

 It is thought that Megan Stammers has talked with her family, and her mother is going to go and collect her at some point in the next few days.

Martin Stammers thanked the police, the media and the public for continuing to publicize the disappearance, saying: "I just can't put it into words how grateful we are as a family."

He went on to request that the media now leave them alone so that they can "bond as a family".

Tingley commented: "Megan is now in the care of British consular staff and Sussex Police child protection team officers.

She will be returned to the UK to be with her family. Jeremy is in custody in Bordeaux after his arrest and the process of his extradition will now commence."  

Megan Stammers was reported as missing after failing to attend school in Eastbourne, East Sussex, last Friday.

It soon came to light that she’d travelled to France with Forrest the evening before which sparked a media-fuelled search.

 Jim and Julie Forrest, Jeremy Forrest's parents, stated: "We are pleased that Megan and Jeremy have been found safe and well.

This has been an ordeal for all the families concerned. We would like to thank Sussex and the French police as well as the British media for their assistance.

We are relieved that the search is finally over and everyone can now focus on a safe and secure return for them both."

The headmaster of Bishop Bell C of E School which Megan Stammers goes to, Terry Boatwright, commented that they were all "delighted" that the police had found her.

 He added: "Throughout the last week, finding Megan has been everyone's priority and a major focus of our thoughts and prayers in school.

Clearly, much needs to be done now to support Megan, and her family, as they seek to return to some sort of normality and we will do all we can to play our part in that."

Lewis Hamilton Signs For Mercedes – Set To Leave McLaren

Lewis Hamilton has decided to move away from McLaren and has signed a 3-year deal to drive for Mercedes in 2013-15, partnering Nico Rosberg.

The move by Lewis Hamilton was announced early this morning and is set to trigger a flurry of activity throughout Formula 1.

It means that Michael Schumacher will have to leave Mercedes. It isn’t known whether he will retire for the second time or join another team. Sauber and Ferrari have been suggested as possibilities by pundits.

It has also been revealed that McLaren have signed Sergio Perez, who currently drives for Sauber, as a replacement for Lewis Hamilton.

 Lewis Hamilton, the 2008 F1 word champion, said: "It is now time for me to take on a fresh challenge and I am very excited to begin a new chapter.

Mercedes-Benz has such an incredible heritage in motorsport, along with a passion for winning which I share.

 Together, we can grow and rise to this new challenge. I believe that I can help steer the Silver Arrows to the top and achieve our joint ambitions of winning the world championships."

Ross Brawn, the boss of the Mercedes F1 team, commented: "I believe that the combination of Lewis and Nico will be the most dynamic and exciting pairing on the grid next year and I am looking forward to what we can achieve together.

 Over the past three years, we have been putting in place the foundations and building blocks that are needed to compete regularly for the world championship. The potential is now there to match any other team on the grid."

The decision to switch teams by Lewis Hamilton comes as a disappointment to McLaren, who will have to manage without his inspirational talent, especially since he’s been part of the McLaren family since he was thirteen years old.

Martin Whitmarsh, who is the boss of the McLaren team, remarked that Lewis Hamilton had written "a huge chapter of his life and career with us", and that: "It goes without saying that we all wish him well for the future."

The Guardian stated that “Hamilton will sign for Mercedes on a three-year deal worth £15m a year. The irony of that is that it is not significantly more than Hamilton is being paid at the moment. He is coming to the end of a five-year deal that has been repeatedly reported as being worth £75m, or £15m a year, but which in fact is worth about £13m-£14m per annum.”

Lewis Hamilton is thought to be on a salary of £9.75 million for this year, but McLaren said that they couldn’t afford to pay him that much next year.

Not only will Lewis Hamilton receive a larger salary at Mercedes, but there will be much more opportunity for him to make money through personal sponsorships and endorsements.

At McLaren he was prohibited from promoting anything that competed with one of the team’s many sponsors.

Despite this, sources close to Lewis Hamilton have insisted that the switch was made with long-term performance considerations in mind.

For the most part McLaren have had the quickest car this year. Mercedes have been slipping back after their only win towards the start of the season.

Mercedes told Lewis Hamilton that they were getting ready for a massive push in 2014, however, when new chassis and engine rules come into force.

At the Singapore grand prix last Sunday, Lewis Hamilton joined in a minutes silence in memory of safety pioneer, Prof. Sid Watkins who died recently.
